150 years of Abolition of slavery in Surinam

Today July 1st 2013 marks the 150th anniversary of abolition of slavery in Surinam.
I am thankful for the fact that my great grandparents fought for equal rights. So I could be born a free woman.

This is the day to commemorate the ones who died for the cause of freedom and equality for the black race in Surinam. But also a day to celebrate and raise a glass to freedom and equality for all the black race of Surinam. And pray for freedom for all mankind. That the day may come that we all can live in peace with each other on this planet.
Bless,
